As the expert on Buildability, Tim Hulse, Ecovert Solution’s director recently attended the live one-day event at the AECB Annual Conference 2022 in Herefordshire. “Building for the Future” brought together some of the industries leading experts. They helped outline practical solutions for decarbonising buildings and delivering low-energy, healthy buildings. They also explored how to minimise the use of precious resources and the impact on the environment.

The event was hosted by Shell Store and Nmite’s (New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering) Centre for Advanced Timber Technology (CATT). The demonstration area at CATT showcased several assemblies for new build and retrofit. This included assemblies developed by AECB experts and proprietary assemblies developed by AECB partners. Two of the retrofit assemblies were built by EcoVert.

Through this approach delegates could gained a detailed as well as practical understanding of sustainable building & retrofit. They could also explore the issues that need addressing to deliver these twin aims of decarbonisation and low energy homes. The event was fully booked and drew visitors from professions across the building world including architects, builders, developers and industry suppliers.

Each of the five key ingredients of building a Passive House or to AECB building standard were showcased whether it was high quality insulation, airtight construction, MVHR, thermal bridge free design or superior quality windows. Delegates split into discussion groups to review how each assembly is constructed. They also gained a detailed understanding of practical best practice examples aided by our team of experts who guided discussion and thinking.

This was a great opportunity to network and focus on group-style feedback to manufacturers and component suppliers.
